large impact.
The Charity Trustees will only award Grants to applicants based in the United Kingdom (UK)
that:
- Have a charitable focus and can show evidence that the charitable cause has a
dedicated bank account - Who can demonstrate the benefit that funding will bring to their group or
community
The Charity Trustees will not normally support:
- Projects situated outside the specified geographical application area.
- Funding for overhead costs. i.e. buildings maintenance or utilities.
- Projects which benefit a sole individual
- Projects for professional theatre
- Staff salaries
- Financial costs of the organisation such as loan repayments
When can I apply?
There are no deadlines for applications which can be submitted at any time. However the
Trustees will meet twice a year in March and in September to consider applications and a
decision given within 6 weeks.
How to apply for a Grant
All proposals must be made on the form that can be accessed through the website and returned via the website.
The application should provide the following information with the proposal:
- An outline of the project aims and who will benefit
- A timetable showing how the project will be delivered
- Include a basic budget sheet of how the Grant will be allocated
If the applicant is a non-registered charitable organisation the proposal must also:
- Provide evidence that the organisation has a bank account; and
- Demonstrate that all of the activities in the proposal will qualify as being charitable and for the public benefit
Receiving information about the final decision
The Trustees will inform applicants of their decision in writing. If an applicant is awarded a
Grant, the Charity Trustees will:
- Set out the key terms of the Grant and any conditions that are attached to it in a
Grant letter - Ask the applicant to sign the Grant letter to indicate that they accept the terms and
conditions - If the Trustees decide not to award a Grant for a proposal the Charity Trustees may,
if requested by the applicant, give the applicant such written feedback on the reasons for
their decision as they consider appropriate. The Trustees decision whether to award a Grant is final
Reporting requirements and monitoring
The Charity Trustees will take steps to monitor the use of the Grant and verify that the
Grant is used for the purposes that have been agreed. The arrangements for monitoring will
vary according to the nature of the Grant, but the Charity Trustees will always seek to
ensure that the arrangements are appropriate and proportionate.
A final written report on completion of the work funded by the Grant, showing how funds
have been spent, evaluating where the work has been successful and identifying lessons
that can be learnt; and information about any proposed changes to the proposed activities.
If appropriate, the Charity Trustees may also visit grant-funded activities and interview
individuals involved in running those activities. Beckenham Theatre Trust may wish to
produce a case study on the funded cause for its website or promote the cause in the local
media.
