Dance for Neurology

Posted: 8th December 2025

Thanks to Beckenham Theatre Trust’s £4,000 contribution, CoDa Dance Company delivered 12 Dance for Neurology sessions for patients with neurological and amputee conditions at Queen Mary Hospital, Wandsworth. The sessions offered space for expression, joy, and connection – complementing the hospital’s intensive rehabilitation programme.

The sessions created a consistent moment of relief and connection for long-term patients coping with fatigue, loss of mobility, and isolation. Feedback from hospital staff and participants
highlighted:

● Increased confidence, motivation, and social interaction among patients
● Improved mood and focus, helping recovery and resilience
● Strong staff engagement and morale – nurses and therapists joined sessions to encourage participation

“CoDa has provided our patients with a lovely service of creative and interpretive dance sessions. For our patient population of Neurologically focused and occasionally Amputee patients, the team have continuously adapted their approach to ensure all levels of ability can access the sessions. This has been great to see and valued by the patients. The patients value the relief the CoDa
sessions provide to the intense rehabilitation they receive during their time on the ward.”
