Beckenham Theatre Trust is proud to have supported a fantastic drama project for autistic children in Bromley.

Self-expression and storytelling through performing arts has always been an important part of CASPA. During the sessions, members play warm up and improvisation games, devise plays and performances, have the opportunity to share their own scriptwriting, try directing and puppetry. They write and perform their own work, we work on all aspects of shows including, costume, set design and directing scenes. Each week the members work on different drama skills and activities to help them engage, increase confidence, work together, make friends, and have fun. They are supported in creating their own scenes which they can then perform to friends and family. Throughout the year we give our members the opportunity to showcase their many talents during performances such as CASPA’s Got Talent, CASPA Masked singer and Pantomime. Our members can find engagement difficult and come out of their shells during drama as they delight in being with other children who accept them for who they are. They love taking part in activities which allow them creativity and the sessions promote empathy as they step into others’ shoes and understand different perspectives.
